I've been so blessed to collaborate with countless incredible couples - it never ceases to make my stomach flutter when I get the email from a couple saying that they want to book me (ME!) as their wedding coordinator and/or planner. I mean, think about it... hiring a wedding coordinator is essentially asking a complete stranger to handle every single aspect, large or tiny, on one of the most important days of your life, based solely on connection + trust formed from ONE initial consultation. Crazy, right? So trust me when I say I feel pretty freaking lucky to have had so many couples put their faith in me for their celebrations.
All of that said, I knew from literally the INSTANT that Jackie introduced herself to me at our initial meeting that her and her then-fiance, Jacob, were going to be more than just clients. It was like getting together with an old friend - we talked for hours, laughed, and went through all of their proposal photos together (which, by the way, involved an entire medieval setup with costumes for most of those involved AND included Jacob battling a wizard, a knight, and Barney the dinosaur for Jackie's heart). It never even felt like a "consultation". It felt like "I need these people in my life".
Luckily for me, J&J asked me to plan & coordinate their July wedding and it was an experience I'll never forget. Our monthly meetings always got off track because of the insane number of inside jokes we had together (I would try to explain, but they're all SO ridiculous... just think of those weird things you & your friends talk about that make you die of laughter every time) and ALWAYS ended with hugs. We worked through difficult logistical bumps and brainstormed DIY projects over and over until the perfect idea emerged. On the wedding day itself, I think I must've hugged Jackie at least 50 times and we were saying "love you!" back and forth.
Jackie & Jacob's kindness, generosity, and huge hearts made a huge impact on my life and their genuine, raw, perfectly imperfect love for each other is something that every person wants to have with their significant other. I am so lucky that my job lead me to such an incredible duo. BUT, without further ado, I present to you: Mr. & Mrs. Chen!!
